Hello! I had a previous post about my goals for this site/domain when I started and it’s probably a good thing to reframe or reiterate my goals again for myself and others. I made this site so I could share what I’ve researched and found out along with some resources I’ve discovered that might shortcut the search for possible avenues of interest.
It’s not going to be perfect, I am not looking to sell a ‘guide’ or course so others can get an ‘indepth’ view of how I do things, I just want to share what I’ve found and if people benefit then that is a win.
There is a lot of misinformation or lack of information regarding the subjects I talk about. Either people just follow what everybody else is doing and saying or there isn’t enough effort being put in to find out more due to confusion about the nuances of the subject. It’s definitely a delicate balance between ‘Information overload’ and ‘buzzword central’.
People don’t usually participate in an event unless specifics and finer details are properly explained, so why would they choose to participate in a space where key information isn’t clearly or plainly described? Besides of course ‘Fear of Missing out’ and herd/pack mentality.
There are benefits to understanding and using the tools for an individual that goes far beyond what many are expecting but how to properly use the tool to prevent harm or risk to oneself in any regard is crucial for use.
I have slowly become a big believer of having Ownership over what is created, held, and tied to an individual on a digital space. Current Web2 platforms don’t give their users a strong claim over their posts and regularly steal, delete, and destroy any source of the creation and who created it.
Domains seem like a way to do it but even then those domain names are ‘leased’ out. Yes, I have the ability to push out whatever I want on my site but once I stop paying then that is it. It’s wiped out.
Blockchain seems like a good solution as the major attraction is ‘Ownership over everything!’ but that’s just not a clear answer. The only thing a blockchain participant owns are the keys to the account. Everything else tied to the account are in the possession of the account but Smart Contracts determine how much of that held asset is actually ‘yours’. Whereas original creations are validated to be in the blockchain accounts possession, it’s only data if the medium to visually show it becomes defunct.
Generative A.I. generated images, text, videos, music, and many more things inbetween all of that but the key word here is ‘Generated’. A person ‘generating’ with Generative A.I. has no claim over what is pushed out. Even if it is using an original example to start the prompt up, (currently) any alteration made with Generative A.I. cannot be truly ‘claimed’ by any one person. Don’t let the ‘make 100k using this Generative A.I. guide!’ fool you, it’s cheaply mass produced garbage that is a total misuse of the tool (IMO).
Instead use Generative A.I. to show how that original creation would look with whatever alterations or targeted material applied, then add them yourself. Use Generative A.I. to be inspired but do not copy from it 1 for 1. Having proof that I made the possible edits myself gives me a greater claim and authority over my creation than if I print out an image/text from a Generative A.I.
I’ve said it multiple times but it seems like the definition of ‘Ownership’ and what that pertains to is being eroded on almost every medium and space, both physically and digitally, by companies, platforms, and even influential individuals.
Learning how to take control is crucial and understanding how to do it begins with a purpose. I would like to be able to claim my creations and have a strong origin source no matter the time so I can show that I was the one who created it if there is ever a dispute.
Having a deed to a plot of land or a title to a vehicle gives power to the owner, having possession on how to access it gives authority, being able to claim ‘I’ve OWNED this for X amount of years!’ gives absolute control and certainty in who was there first.
There’s plenty of knowledge here in my catalogue of posts. It’s not perfect, it may even be a little outdated but it is still a better starting point than what I had when I started. Look through it, see what’s interesting, and of course
Stay Knowledgeable!
