Technology is advancing and whenever new technology is brought into an existing field there is almost always backlash from the community. The backlash is understandable at first but after a certain point it begins to feel like a repellant of learning.
Generative A.I. and Blockchain are the most recent examples with Blockchain implementation being added too early and leaving a horrible history that left many with a correlation of ‘predatory’ and ‘scammy’ with Blockchain.
And Generative A.I. had a rough streak with it’s rampant theft of scanning established works, lifting information from registered/copywritten articles, reviews, and even lifted from individuals their creations and personal works. That’s not even getting into the worry of job security!
Having concerns is a normal response to something new entering an industry that has had a standard or status quo for over 10, 20, even 30 years. But these technologies have opened up possibilities that are shaking the entire foundation of what has been set in stone for a long time, so a harshly negative reaction/response whenever these subjects were brought up in those early days was easy to comprehend.
But to have the same reaction after so much time has passed, to me, feels like sticking your head in the sand and to instantly lash out is a little unsettling. These changes tried to happen early but the majority of people spoke out and thus businesses, companies, and even individuals interested in the space for it’s utility, backed up for awhile to both get a better understanding and to give others time to acclimate and figure out what would be happening.
Implementing these aspects to the current models was never ‘off the table’, it was just moved to a later date but now with clear guidelines, exact purposes, and no longer an ‘addition’ to what was offered but instead an offshoot where participation was not mandatory.
When it comes to these technologies the application, reason of its introduction, and purpose, practically MUST be explained clearly. Otherwise it would feel quite suspicious that the technology was added but wont disclose WHY it felt necessary to add.
Doing the research, learning, observing, and reading whatever document released with the added technology will clarify the true intention in the long run.
These are my opinions and thoughts. I could be wrong and everybody/thing implementing these technologies is actually a son of a bitch that just wants to gobble up money.
But I think the utility the technology brings and adds, when done ethically enough, can benefit the participant and individual in a longer run than monetary gain ever could.
