Knowing the Terminology

With any new technology, there are tons of abbreviations, confusing terms, phrases, and other whacky words that mean nothing to the common person. There are many who try to rephrase or use alterations to appeal these new technologies to the wider audience. The changed meaning of a word can cause confusion because new participants are expecting what they’ve been told this new thing can do, but start to realize that what they are thinking and what they can do are vastly different. It creates a negative feeling of being misled and spreads a negative experience to others who haven’t tried it for themselves.

The concept is there but knowing the exact wording of the concept is important in realizing HOW a participant can utilize it. Many of these new subjects are spouting ‘Ownership’ over creations/holdings but the terminology used will give a hint at how much utility a participant can get from a creation/held asset. Alteration has led many to think they will have ‘total control’ over an asset/creation but has left them restricted on what they can actually do after obtaining the digital item.

Doing the proper research and looking up the correct terminology is important in this new ‘frontier’ of technology is absolutely critical to understanding how these tools can, and should, be used.

– Helpful Advice:

– Do a web search for “Terms use for (example)”. There is usually a list with clear explanations

– Look up the meaning of a word that is constantly used by ‘experts’. The word is often the key attraction but might be altered to make the aspect more enticing.

– Understand the core concept before immersing further into the subject.
