Withholding knowledge that could be a solution to somebodies problem has always seemed weird to me. Knowledge previously imparted on a medium(Paper, Audio, Video, ETC) has saved many the frustrations of not understanding a certain part of a subject or even to implement certain aspects together in ways that others wouldn’t think to do.
I think much of my progress has stemmed from others freely sharing knowledge on a topic and learning how to implement it for myself. That is why I created this blog. I originally wanted to have a series of ‘guides’ for topics but I thought about my reasoning, I was withholding potentially useful knowledge because I wanted to sell a ‘guide’. That isn’t really fair for the buyer because what if the buyer had limited resources and the guide I created wasn’t exactly what they were looking for?
Also people wanting to seek knowledge would be met by a selfish demand for payment when there was no proof the knowledge inside the guide would be worth the value.
I thought about this and turned to history to see how individuals wanting to share knowledge had managed to live. I (re)discovered that many Greek philosophers had often sat around spouting knowledge or personal thoughts about a subject and if nearby listeners found that stream of thought provoking or inspirational they would give value to the philosopher.
This was also around the time I discovered the new concept of Value4Value. It made sense at the time and I could begin sharing my knowledge here with the objective of transforming relevant blog posts into a guide later.
The thing with sharing knowledge though is that there has to be a place to write it down and to share it with others. Books are one thing but there are many steps to actually get a book published and printed. Social Platforms are also another medium but with the Generative AI craze and many companies throwing every piece of creative content into a LLM to teach it, it doesn’t feel right to further feed the machine. Blogs have always been a good place to write down thoughts, feelings, and techniques about a subject/topic but they only last as long as the creator keeps paying for the domain/hosting. Not very stable if times get tough so where does one post knowledge?
Blockchain is supposedly going to last ‘forever’ and there are many social Blockchains that offer rewards for relevant quality creations from participants/readers. Is this a shill for Blockchain? No. Blockchain is definitely full of confusion, conundrums, ne’er-do-wells, and over inflated hype, but posts created on a social Blockchain do (currently) appear on Search Engine results.
So there’s an idea for anyone looking for a destination to share their knowledge but don’t want to pay for hosting or use a social platform. I recommend the Hive Blockchain but heavily suggest proper research be done to ensure it is right for you.
This little tidbit of knowledge may help somebody figure out a solution for their other creations and if it does help somebody than I am glad I freely shared it on my blog.
Old manuscripts of techniques for boat crafting or fencing styles have kept certain parts of the the subject alive because they were written down and ‘shared’ when found/re-discovered. My goal is to share what I know and help as many as I can without there being a barrier for the knowledge to be attained.
Thank you for reading.
