Imperfection in a Generative AI saturated world

The chase for perfection has become moot as Generative AI has taken the front stage in many aspects of social interactions but that doesn’t mean a person can’t tell when something is a generated response or creation.

The thing with creation is that there is always a ‘janky’ bit that most creators (Me especially) cannot fix. It is a flaw that not many notice except the creator. That reappearing ‘flaw’ becomes a mark of the creator and viewers accept it as a part of the creation.

But if AI is used to fix the ‘flaw’ then viewers may begin to notice that the creation doesn’t seem ‘right’ to them compared to previous creations and that is were the issues may begin to rise.

The definition of Create, from my dictionary (Merriam-Webster), is: To Produce by a Course of Action. In todays world that can mean anything that comes into existence : a comment, an email response, art pieces, video introductions, blog posts, ETC. Anything that takes input from a person to make something visible to oneself or others

Symmetry is often associated with perfect in many things but in a human creation, if that isn’t the intended purpose, it can seem ‘off’ and that is what is being seen in todays digital spaces. Rows of comments starting to be too ‘similar’, pieces of ‘art’ that appear somewhat off in their cleanliness, other creations that lack the bit of ‘humanity‘ that I cannot explain but it’s just ‘there‘ in a creation.

Don’t be afraid if it (Whatever it is) doesn’t look ‘perfect’, viewers will often be glad the creation is something human crafted and not AI generated.

This post originated because I got a notification from Grammarly, a application I used to to correct any spelling mistakes, offering a discount on services if I returned to using their software. I stopped because I grew weary of the software calling me out on so many mistakes. The best possible method to improve(IMO) was to work on the process instead of having a software tidy it up for me and never learn.

Don’t know if I am improving per-se but it is much better than it was previously. Also with the introduction of generated content being published on more and more platforms / spaces it almost seems like there is a manhunt on ‘perfection’.

Every interaction with another person, either in real life or virtual, is never ‘perfect’, its just an moment in time that either builds toward or takes away from the next interaction, at least from my experience.

Just some thoughts and insight on using Generative AI for every thing and how it might appear to others. Hope it helps!
