My First Few Posts on Hive (2021)

I never was a social media person. I just found the idea of publishing aspects of my life for ‘likes’ somewhat lacking and just a search for a ‘feel good’ emotion. I never really got anything that led to a deeper conversation nor was it ever brought up again. It just seemed pointless. If I was at an event with others then they would post about the event and it would just be redundant to a degree.

I was very pessimistic about the whole thing. But when I was introduced to Hive, a social media platform hosted on a Blockchain with the main purpose being ‘quality content’ with reasons to have or create deeper conversation with others, I was interested!

My lack of social media experience left me somewhat confused about what I should post about. I wasn’t exactly a social butterfly (if that wasn’t obvious) but I wanted to start. I had my Web3 Handle be an offshoot of my gaming username so I centered around gaming.

I was a fan of Monster Hunter and figured my introduction would be posting about the game series I enjoy so much and talking about some different aspects of it and even creating my profile picture of an armor piece in MSPaint (Pro skill)

Not much ‘earned’ in the right corner per post but what I did acquire was more than I ever got from traditional social media! There were even some comments that sprouted replies and more feedback.

I think the biggest thing I (l)earned from this experience was finding my voice and taking the time to find my voice, what I would like to share and post about, and what my purpose for creating was.

Web3 gave me an opportunity to publish my creations on a space with others while still retaining ownership of my creations and allowing me to earn from creating and offering input to other posts. I am cross-sharing my creations from Web3 to this domain (Web2) and I have full control over what I share, what my message is, and why I created it.

Having that freedom as a creator starting out is liberating because my attempts to try out creating with unique input on other platforms such as Medium, Twitter(X), and Linkedin, have all lead to minimal value earned and a lot of my time squandered. That would’ve absolutely crushed my drive to continue to create as I would’ve felt I was speaking into the void with nobody listening.

That is why I find Web3 so fascinating and continue to do research and find methods to participate with it as an alternative instead of a main stream platform. There has to be purpose behind the creation… Well, at least in my opinion.

I recorded an audio of my thoughts about creating on Web3 when beginning the creator journey.
